Solidarity Article #7 : Filling Hearts with Warmth

It’s winter. The cold is here, the sun is hiding more often. After the holiday season, I can’t help but think about the harsh reality that many people experience on a daily basis. In many Quebec homes, this difficult feeling that comes from poverty inhabits men, women and children who have to deal with lack. The bills keep coming, electricity is expensive, warm clothes too. With the cost of living that continues to rise, basic needs are not always met. Too many people wake up every morning and open an empty fridge.
At this time of year, precariousness manifests itself in new forms, giving rise to new faces of poverty: individuals from diverse backgrounds, who work and do everything they can to make ends meet. Together, we can ensure that these new realities are not accompanied by shame, and offer everyone the opportunity to meet a basic need: that of feeding themselves.
By contributing through your donations, you will allow the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul of Montreal to expand its food support, bringing comfort and warmth to families in need. Your support is immensely important. Let’s make a positive difference in this cold winter.
And as Ferland sang: “Fais du feu dans la cheminée, je reviens chez nous…” The Société de Saint-Vincent de Paul de Montréal is there to warm the hearts of people who are hungry.
