Because every journey is unique, the OBM Academic Perseverance Scholarships Program created the Academic Perseverance Scholarships to recognize perseverance in all its forms — academic, personal, and social. These scholarships celebrate the effort, resilience, and commitment of students who continue moving forward despite the challenges they face. They are a concrete way to value their journey and help build their confidence.

Application Process The person submitting the application must be a recognized employee of the student’s educational institution (teacher, school administration, support staff, guidance counselor, etc.) or a practitioner from an organization working in school perseverance or educational support. Any application submitted by a student’s parent will be automatically rejected.

1. Complete the application form + deadline

Applications open on February 16, 2026
Deadline to submit an application: April 1, 2026

2. Involve the student and their family:

  • To ensure the process is meaningful, we encourage you to complete the application with the student and their family.
  • Explain to the student that simply being nominated already represents a meaningful form of recognition.

3. Describe perseverance using concrete examples.

  • Highlight the student’s motivation through specific situations illustrating their journey, efforts, and progress.
  • Detailed, personalized, and authentic responses are essential for the selection process.

4. Eligibility criteria

  • The student must be developing in a context of socio-economic vulnerability that has an impact on their schooling.
  • They must demonstrate positive and significant involvement in school and/or extracurricular life, despite the presence of an intervention plan to support their learning (e.g., dyslexia, dysorthographia, etc.).
  • The Scholarships also recognize the sustained commitment of students enrolled in a recent immigration pathway (e.g., welcome class).

5. Evaluation of applications:

  • An impartial selection committee carefully reviews each application.
  • Responses will be communicated to educational institutions by email during the month of May each year.

6. Awarding of scholarships:

Scholarships and certificates are sent directly to the educational institution or partner organization. Students who are not selected will receive a letter of encouragement.
We encourage you to create a moment to celebrate the journey of the scholarship recipient, surrounded by their peers and the school team (e.g., gala, ceremony, etc.).
